Geneva, SANA – The eighth session of the Global Platform (GP) for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) concluded its events on Friday, May 6, with the participation of the Syrian Civil Defense.
The event was organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva for Disaster Risk Reduction under the theme: “Every Day Counts, Act for Resilience Today.”
Dr. Ahmad Al-Ekzayez ,Senior Programs Director at the Syria Civil Defence, spoke during the forum about the current disaster context in Syria and the efforts of the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management to develop a national disaster management plan.
He emphasized the importance of reducing disaster risk by supporting policy development, promoting risk-informed planning, advising on innovative financing mechanisms, and enhancing local preparedness and community-led resilience.
