Riyadh, SANA–The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Indonesia stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, and rejecting foreign interference in its internal affairs.
This came in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Riyadh and his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the statement noted that both sides welcomed the decision by the United States, the United Kingdom, and European Union countries to lift sanctions imposed on Syria. They described the move as a positive step toward reconstruction, enhancing stability, creating favorable conditions for the return of Syrian refugees, and rebuilding state institutions. The Indonesian side also expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s role in this regard.
The statement further affirmed both countries’ support for all efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in Syria, and their rejection of any actions that undermine its sovereignty, including repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.
