Information minister: Saudi and Turkish regimes have subversive role in region

Damascus, SANA-Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said the Saudi and Turkish regimes are playing a subversive role in the region, particularly in Syria.
“The organic connection between specific terror organizations and the Saudi and Turkish regimes is no longer a secret,” al-Zoubi said in an interview with the Iranian Tasnim agency published Monday.

Al-Zoubi cast doubts on the Saudi recent statements on ISIS terror organization.

“Saudi Arabia is trying to camouflage its role in supporting terrorists in the world,” he said, calling to mind that Saudis have had a hand in the majority of terrorist crimes in the world.

“The US policies in the region, especially towards Syria, have never been positive,” al-Zoubi said, indicating that they have always reflected the US role in the unfolding events.

Asked about the Syrian government’s position on Geneva 3, the minister said that since the start of the crisis, Syria has not spared an opportunity for political solution, a principle, he said, that the Syrian government is committed to.

Commenting on the Arab League’s decision to set up a joint force, al-Zoubi said that Arab states “are in fact overreaching themselves” by taking such a step in a bid to bridge a gap in the US role in the region.

The minister described Russia and Iran as “friends to Syria” whose support has not budged since the beginning of the crisis, pointing to Western attempts to tarnish the role of the two countries but said are doomed to failure.
