Security Council: Turkish aggression on Syrian territories undermines regional stability, security

UN, SANA-The International Security Council affirmed that the Turkish offensive on the Syrian territories undermines the security and stability of the region and leads to increasing the suffering of civilians and the displacement of large numbers of them, in addition to hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Representatives of the Council’s member states, in a brief  statement which was agreed upon after a closed-door meeting, expressed concern over the risks of a deterioration in the humanitarian situation in northeast Syria and the escape of thousands of Daesh (ISIS) terrorists.

On Monday, UN  Secretary-General Antonio Guterres affirmed that the Turkish aggression has led to the displacement of 160 thousand people from their areas.

Guterres expressed deep concern over the escalation of the situation in northern Syria and the possibility of the escape of terrorists from Daesh.
