Moscow, SANA – The Russian General Staff said that the US occupation forces are hijacking oil fields and facilities in the Syrian Jazeera area, and that they are continuing to train terrorist groups.
In a press conference on Monday, Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy, chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, said that in addition to training militants, US-controlled entities in Syria are hijacking petroleum facilities and oil fields in the Euphrates area.
He added that US private military firms are increasing the number of their personnel in oil sites in the Euphrates, as they now number over 3,500 people.
Rudskoy said that these entities are extracting Syrian oil from al-Omar, Conaco and Tanak oil fields on the Euphrates River’s east bank and selling it.
He said that the areas occupied by Washington and its coalition in the Euphrates area witnessed 300 terrorist attacks in which 225 people have been killed during June and July of this year, and that the US is responsible for the civilian deaths and suffering at al-Rukban camp.
Rudskoy also said that Russia has reduced its air operations in Syria to a minimum, and is now focusing on combat training and reconnaissance activities.
He added that the Russian Aerospace Forces set their targets only after conducting through surveillance and examining the site repeatedly through at least 3 independent channels, asserting that all strikes are very precise.
On another note, Rudskoy said surveillance shows covert movements and repositioning in the southwestern part of the de-escalation zone in Idleb, with over 500 terrorists from “Ahrar al-Cham” being redeployed as the terrorists prepare to carry out attacks.
Rudskoy: White Helmets carrying out media misinformation campaign against Russia
On a relevant note, Rudskoy said that terrorists and the organizations that work with them are carrying out a media misinformation campaign in which they accuse Russia of targeting civilians in the de-escalation zone in Idleb.
He said that White Helmets members are producing fabricated videos to spread misinformation and slander Russia in the eyes of international public opinion.
Rudskoy said Russian surveillance has verified twice on July 24 and 26 the reports claiming that a marketplace in Ma’aret al-Nu’man had been destroyed, and surveillance proved that the marketplace is undamaged, contrary to White Helmets’ claims about it being destroyed by a Russian airstrikes.
He also noted that terrorist continue to attempt attacks on Hmeimim airbase using rockets and drones.
