Syrian-Chinese talks to enhance transportation cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Transportation Ghazwan Kher Bek discussed on Thursday with Ambassador of People’s Republic of China Wang Qi Jian bilateral relations and means to promote them, expressing Syria’s appreciation for China’s stances in support of Syria.

The minister said Syria has a unique geographical location which gives it a strategic importance being located in the heart of the region and makes it a significant transportation route.

He expressed Syria’s willingness to benefit from Chinese experience in transportation sector, particularly in railways and civil aviation.
The minister said that the ministry is seeking to increase cooperation in developing Syrian ports to make them able to receive huge tankers, pointing out to the possibility of connecting Syrian and Chinese ports.

For his part, Qi Jian clarified that China has financial and technical potential to help transportation sector in Syria which is considered an important country in Western Asia.

The ambassador pointed out that China is interested in the growth of developing countries located between China and Europe, expressing the Embassy‘s readiness to carry out projects in Syria when possible.
