Damascus, SANA – Syrian national team player Omar al-Somah will participate with his new club, Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club (Wydad AC), in the FIFA Club World Cup, following his transfer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Oroubah FC.
Wydad AC successfully finalized the signing of the Syrian national team star and Al-Ahli Saudi FC’s all-time top scorer to join their squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the United States from June 14th to July 13th.
According to the official rosters released by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), al-Somah will wear jersey number 99 for Wydad AC. He is set to play his first match on the eighteenth of this month against England’s Manchester City, before later facing off against UAE’s Al Ain FC and Italy’s Juventus in the group stage.
Al-Somah, aged 36, is expected to join Wydad AC’s training camp in the United States within the next few hours, in preparation for joining training sessions under the guidance of coach Mohamed Amine Ben Hachem.
