Damascus, SANA-The Syrian Ministry of Energy is participating in the Kuwait Sustainable Energy Conference and its accompanying exhibition, in collaboration with the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE).
The conference, which commenced at the Kuwait International Fairgrounds and will continue until next Tuesday, aims to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources and to facilitate the transition toward sustainable energy sources in alignment with the Kuwait Vision 2035.
Additionally, the event seeks to strengthen regional cooperation among Arab states and the broader Mediterranean region in research, development, and the exchange of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency advancements.
Dr. Mohammad Bassam Darwish, Director General of the National Energy Research Center and Syria’s representative at the conference, stated that a technical delegation from RCREEE will visit Syria on May 18–19 to present the findings of a study on developing Syria’s electrical system using the latest sustainable development approaches.
The study outlines a national energy transition strategy, focusing on increasing the contribution of renewable energy to the national energy balance and implementing mandatory measures and codes for energy efficiency in buildings and energy-consuming equipment.
