Jordanian FM stresses the need to support the Syrian government

Amman, SANA- Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mr. Ayman Safadi,stressed the need to support the Syrian government in its reconstruction efforts.

“The Syrian government must be supported in its efforts to rebuild and improve the situation in the country,” Petra news agency quoted Safadi as saying.

That came during his meeting Tuesday with a delegation from the French Senate, including Vice-President Loïc Hervé, Étienne Blanc, chairman of the Committee for Liaison, Reflection and Solidarity with the Christians of the East, the Minorities of the Middle East and the Kurds, and Cyril Pellevat, chairman of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee.

He stressed the importance of lifting sanctions on Syria to help its people recover and overcome the difficult circumstances they have been through.

Safadi also underscored the importance of supporting efforts to achieve an urgent ceasefire and deliver humanitarian assistance, to the Gaza Strip, which is facing a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and Israel’s prevention of aid entry.

He stressed the need for supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and maintaining the ceasefire.
