Cabinet annuls number of higher and special councils

Cabinet, SANA – The weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Tuesday focused on reassessing the structure of the National Media Council, giving the Higher Council for Tourism a deadline for arranging and evaluating its files, as part of the efforts to develop the administrative structure at the Cabinet and affiliated establishments.

The Cabinet also decided to annul the Health Council, the Higher Council for Civil Defense, the Higher Council of the Higher Agency of Scientific Research, the Higher Council for Investment, and the Syrian Council for Metals and Steel, in addition to addressing the status of joint higher councils with other countries, with the government deciding to reassess the work of the Syrian-Libyan Strategic Cooperation Council and the Syrian-Turkish Strategic Council.

The Cabinet then discussed the recent field visits conducted by ministers to a number of provinces, giving some extra authority to ministers to reduce red tape and speed up resolving citizens’ issues.

The Cabinet approved a bill regulating the work of the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, and a bill on specifying fees paid by Syrian citizens for consular work.
