Information Minister: President al-Sharaa called for formulating a suitable investment environment

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Information, Dr. Hamza al-Mustafa, held Friday a press conference to discuss the latest developments and the work of the Syrian government.

The Minister reviewed the country’s current achievements and challenges, as well as prospects for openness and bringing foreign and Arab investments into Syria following the lifting of international sanctions.

“President Ahmad al-Sharaa, during his chairmanship of the regular cabinet meeting today, emphasized the need to formulate a suitable investment environment through a set of effective laws and regulations and the freedom of movement of funds, now that Syria has completed the confidence-building phase and entered a new phase to restore its position,” Dr. Al-Mustafa said.

He went on to say that President Al-Sharaa presented a set of guiding points during the meeting, most notably that Syria is facing a historic opportunity to move towards major foreign investments in vital sectors, and that demand for investments in Syria is high in the energy, tourism, free zones, railways, and industry sectors, noting that an investment law will be issued soon.

As for the ministers’ interventions, Dr. Al-Mustafa explained that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Al-Shaibani, mentioned the achievements of Syrian diplomacy over the past six months, most notably the lifting of sanctions, raising the Syrian flag at the United Nations, developing relations with neighboring countries and regional and international powers, working to re-represent various diplomatic missions, and opening a number of consulates in the cities of Jeddah of Saudi Arabia, Gaziantep of Turkey and Bonn of Germany.
