Russian air force conducts 39 sorties, hits 51 ISIS targets

Moscow, SANA- Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that a number of training camps, arms and ammunition’s depots and command centers for terrorists were destroyed during air strikes against positions for ISIS terrorist organization in Syria during the past 24 hours.

SPUTNIK Russian News Agency quoted the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov as saying that “the Russian Aerospace Forces have conducted 39 sorties and carried out 60 strikes over the past 24 hours, hitting 51 ISIS targets in Hama, Lattakia, Damascus and Aleppo provinces”.

“Russian bombers have destroyed 4 terrorist command centers, 6 ammunition depots, 2 underground bunkers, 32 field camps, 6 strongholds and a mortar battery over the past 24 hours”, Konashenkov added.

“Russian Su-24 aircraft have hit and destroyed a depot for ISIS terrorists in Salma town in Lattakia province destroying the position completely,” He said.

“Russian Su-34 aircraft have hit and destroyed ISIS underground fortified positions on the outskirts of Talbiseh in Homs province,” Konashenkov added, explaining that the facility had an extensive network of underground tunnels, which allowed the militants to secretly visit different areas of the city in addition to a small warehouse for making unguided rockets and a bunker equipped with an arsenal of ammunition and improvised explosive devices designed to carry out terrorist attacks and sabotage”.

“During the aerial reconnaissance in the vicinity of Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside, a major ammunition supply point, which provided militants with ammunition, food and fuel, was uncovered and has been destroyed by Su-25 jets”, Konashenkov said.

He added that a Su-24 Fencer attack aircraft’s strike on Jaish al-Fatah terrorist group’s command post in Hama province.

“The strike disrupted control of the Jaish al-Fateh units located in Kafar Zita in Hama province. The terrorists have left the combat area after the strike.”
