Amman, SANA- Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack discussed Saturday the situation in Syria, particularly the ceasefire agreement in Sweida province.
Jordanian media reported that the two sides discussed efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Sweida province, stressing the need for its implementation to protect Syria, its unity, and its citizens, while ensuring the rule of law, protecting civilians, and preventing the shedding of Syrian blood.
Safadi affirmed his country’s full support and solidarity with Syria’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that its security and stability are a pillar of stability in the region.
The Jordanian Minister condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and interference in its affairs, considering them a blatant violation of international law and Syria’s sovereignty, threatening its security, stability, and unity. He pointed out the essential role played by the United States in achieving a ceasefire and ensuring Syria’s security and stability.
For his part, Barrack said on the X platform: “We are taking positive steps to support a unified, stable Syria living in peace with its neighbors,” emphasizing that Jordan plays a critical leadership role in the region.
