Energy Minister discusses prospects for oil cooperation with Shell representatives

Damascus, SANA- Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir discussed Tuesday the state of oil sector in Syria and prospects for future cooperation with representatives of the international company Shell.

The meeting addressed current developments in the oil infrastructure, investment opportunities, and rehabilitation. The meeting also discussed the possibility of reactivating Shell’s activities in Syria after a hiatus of several years, in light of the gradual improvement in the investment environment.

Minister al-Bashir stressed the Syrian government’s keenness to attract experienced international companies to revive the oil sector and boost local production, which would positively impact the national economy.

For their part, the company’s representatives expressed their interest in cooperation opportunities and their willingness to study the possibility of returning within appropriate legal and technical frameworks.
