Damascus, SANA- As part of efforts to raise environmental awareness and address environmental challenges in Syria, the Faculty of Science at Damascus University organized an interactive event entitled “Our Environment is Our Life” on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025.
The dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hamoud al-Arabi, noted that Syria produces approximately 1.5 million tons of plastic waste annually, representing 15 percent of the total pollution. He emphasized the importance of environmental research projects in the context of reconstruction.
The event was attended by students, academics, and volunteer teams, and coincided with this year’s global theme, “Combating Plastic Pollution.”
