Syrian Fine Artists Union: Targeting places of worship is a crime against homeland

Damascus, SANA-The Syrian Fine Artists Union affirmed that targeting places of worship is a blatant crime against the homeland and a direct assault on the Syrian spirit, which is deeply rooted throughout history in the values of diversity and tolerance.

The Union added in a statement that this terrorist attack targeted Mar Elias Church in Dweilaa neighborhood in Damascus yesterday, is also a malicious attempt to undermine the national fabric, which has long been a model of brotherhood and belonging.

The union extended its condolences for the civilian victims of the criminal bombing, stressing that it is a crime that shocks the human conscience and a blatant attack on the security and stability of Syrian citizens.

The statement called for strengthening collective awareness in the face of this ordeal, stressing the need to promote a culture of solidarity and mutual respect, and standing united against all attempts at incitement and division.
