Damascus, SANA- Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh, discussed with a delegation from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to key features of the proposed National Response Platform.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance institutional coordination and bolster Syria’s national preparedness for emergency situations.Held at the ministry’s headquarters, the meeting covered mechanisms for developing an integrated early warning system, including support for seismic and biological monitoring units. It also addressed possibilities for long-term partnerships aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in disaster management.
According to the ministry’s official Telegram channel, discussions extended to the International Disaster Risk Management Agreement, set to be reviewed at the United Nations in 2027. Both parties emphasized the importance of aligning the agreement with Syria’s national context and agreed to prepare for a joint legal meeting to review the agreement and develop a comprehensive national vision.
