Damascus, SANA- Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Administrative Affairs, Basil al-Suwaidan reviewed the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Syria at a World Bank regional workshop on food security and nutrition in the Middle East and North Africa.
During the two-day workshop held in Egypt, Al-Suwaidan reviewed through Zoom, the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Syria, including a decrease of more than 30% in cultivated areas and a decline in the production of strategic crops due to the destruction of infrastructure, fuel shortages, and a shortage of production requirements, in addition to climate change.
He also presented a vision for achieving food security in the coming period.
