Third international engineering conference on renewable energy kicks Off at Damascus University

Damascus, SANA-The Third International Engineering Conference on Renewable Energy has commenced at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University, with the participation of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Marwan Halabi, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Amjad Badr, and a distinguished group of researchers and experts from Syria and abroad.

Held under the theme “Renewable Energy: Solutions and Strategies,” the conference aims to advance scientific research in renewable energy applications, support investment in the sector through structured planning, and develop technical solutions to enhance the stability and reliability of the electrical grid while preventing widespread blackouts.

During the opening speech, Minister Halabi emphasized the need to shift from consumption to innovation, from dependency to leadership, and from following trends to creating them. He stressed that achieving this transformation requires the dedication of scientists, the determination of researchers, and the ambition of youth, who serve as the driving force behind national progress.

The conference, spanning three days, will cover key topics such as:
• Renewable energy generation technologies (solar, wind, fuel cells, geothermal, biomass, and photovoltaic cells).
• Energy efficiency improvements in industrial, service, and agricultural sectors.
• The role of renewable energy in optimizing consumption and sustainability.
• Enhancing the electrical grid through distributed generation integration.
• Energy management and environmental impact of renewable energy investments.
Representatives from ministries, professional associations, universities, research centers, and specialized companies are actively participating in discussions.
