Vienna,SANA-Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA), said that the steps taken by the agency in collaboration with Syria recently represent a new beginning in the path of cooperation between the two parties.
Grossi expressed his desire to further cooperate with the Syrian government and provide tangible assistance to the Syrian people.
In a speech delivered Monday at the opening of the Agency’s Governors’ Council meeting in Vienna, Grossi stated that the agency had gained immediate and unrestricted access to sites related to clarifying past nuclear activities in Syria.
He added that this was an important step towards enhancing transparency and building mutual trust. Grossi also explained that his meeting with Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa had resulted in new agreements being signed within the ‘Atoms for Food’ and ‘Hope Radiation’ initiatives.
These agreements will strengthen technical and humanitarian cooperation between Syria and the International Atomic Energy Agency, particularly in agriculture, nutrition, and access to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
