Int’l Exhibition for Construction ” BUILDEX ” kicks off at New Fairground in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- With the participation of 740 local and foreign companies, the 22nd edition of the International Construction Exhibition “BuildEx” kicked off Tuesday evening at New Fairground in Damascus, under the auspices of the Ministries of Economy and Industry and Public Works and Housing.

The companies participated in the exhibition are 490 local companies and 250 international and Arab ones in the fields of building and construction materials, cladding, alternative energy and other fields.

During a tour to the exhibition, Interior Minister noted to the steps taken by the Ministry to enhance security measures, stressing that the wide participation, both local and foreign, holds good for Syria’s future in light of moving towards the reconstruction.

In a statement to SANA, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Eng. Basil Abdul Hannan underlined the importance of holding BUILDEX exhibition coinciding with the beginning of lifting US and European sanctions imposed on the country in addition to support provide by local and foreign investors.

Governor of Damascus countryside said that the broad participation in this exhibition, both locally and internationally, paves the way for reconstruction and development process in Syria at all levels.

For their part, Director General of Syrian Establishment for Fairs and International Markets, Mohammad Hamza, and CEO of Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences Alaa Hilal underscored the importance of the exhibition especially after the announcement of lifting sanctions on Syria, and presence of more than 200 new companies that had not participated before.

A number of Arab and foreign delegations and representatives of a number of diplomatic missions operating in Damascus participated in the five-day exhibition.
