Syria, WHO discuss cooperation and direct international support

Geneva, SANA-Health Minister Dr. Musab al-Ali discussed with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, ways to enhance cooperation and direct international support to serve the health sector in Syria.

During the meeting, held at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Dr. Tedros agreed to the Minister’s request to exempt Syria from any reduction in health support provided through international programs. This is a crucial step that reflects the organization’s understanding of the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing and its commitment to ensuring the continuity of essential health services.

Dr. al-Ali extended an official invitation to the Director-General to visit Syria to gain a firsthand insight into the health sector and strengthen the existing partnership with the World Health Organization to support recovery efforts and improve health services.
