Damascus,SANA-The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service has revealed that global pistachio production for the 2024-2025 season has reached approximately 1.18 million metric tons. The report highlights the top ten pistachio-producing countries, with the United States leading the list, while Syria ranks sixth.
The agency also noted that pistachio consumption is on the rise, as the global market value increased from $5.25 billion in 2023 to $5.51 billion in 2024.
Projections indicate that the market will continue expanding, reaching $7.32 billion by 2030.
According to the agency’s data and the “S-Fed” platform specializing in food supply chains, the world’s top pistachio-producing countries are:
- United States – 503.2 thousand metric tons.
- Turkey – 385 thousand metric tons.
- Iran – 200 thousand metric tons.
- China – 113.4 thousand metric tons.
- Afghanistan – 68 thousand metric tons.
- Syria – 55 thousand metric tons.
- Greece – 54.4 thousand metric tons.
- Italy – 45.4 thousand metric tons.
- Uzbekistan – 36.3 thousand metric tons.
- Spain – 31.7 thousand metric tons.
