Syrian school launches innovative initiative to encourage reading

Damascus Countryside, SANA- The “March 8” Basic Education school in Qatana city, Damascus countryside launched “Read” initiative to encourage students to read, in a ceremony that included artistic performances, sports, choirs, and poems.

Minister of Education, Darem Tabbaa, and his Pakistani counterpart Rana Tanveer Hussain participated in the event.

Tabbaa praised the initiatives of the school’s teaching staff and students, including the “Read” initiative that encourages students to read books outside the curriculum to develop their knowledge and love of reading.

For his part, the Pakistani minister affirmed readiness to support the school and provide a grant to provide the necessary services and equipment.

The headmaster Ali al-Jallad said that the initiative aims to promote reading and encourage students to read, as well as to demonstrate the ability of the Syrian student to achieve excellence and creativity despite war conditions.
