Syria and Russia discuss increasing exchange of agricultural products

Moscow, SANA – Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Minister Hassan Majed Safiya discussed on Wednesday with Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Nikolai Fyodorov increasing the exchange of agricultural products between the two countries.

Minister Fyodorov expressed the desire of the Russian side to increase the purchase level of Syrian vegetables and fruits, while Minister Safiya also stressed Syria’s desire to increase the volume of grains imported from Russia.

According to data distributed by the Russian Agricultural Control Department, 8 Russian corporations have been granted licenses to export to Syria, including 4 from Crimea peninsula.

Earlier, Syria and Russia signed a cooperation protocol during the 9th session of the Syrian-Russian Joint Committee which was held in Sochi on improving commercial exchange and increasing the share of Russian firms in Syrian markets and the presence of Syrian products in Russia’s markets, especially textiles and agricultural products.
