Authorities seize antique pieces prepared to be smuggled in Eastern Ghouta

Damascus Countryside, SANA- Authorities discovered antique pieces stolen by terrorists inside a house in Zamalka city in Eastern Ghouta.

SANA reporter said that during the canvassing operations , the authorities on Wednesday found antique pieces stolen by terrorists in Zamalka city in Eastern Ghouta as to be smuggled abroad.

Head of Damascus countryside’s Antiquities Department Jihad Abu Kahiela said that the seized antiques included sculptures of basalt stone representing goddesses, craved stone lintels , mostly dating back to Roman era in the second century AD.

Abu Kaheila pointed out that the pieces were illegally excavated by the terrorist groups when the eastern Ghouta was under their control. They were mostly uncovered from the town of Haran al-Awamid.
