Doha, Aug. 2 (SANA)  Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait underscored Sunday the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to reduce regional tensions, stressing the need for all parties to implement the provisions of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, including measures to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the position was expressed during separate phone calls between Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The four countries reaffirmed their support for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement that would contribute to lasting peace and regional stability.

The officials also reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, alongside the latest regional developments, with particular focus on ongoing diplomatic initiatives and joint coordination to enhance regional security and stability.

The consultations come amid intensified regional diplomatic efforts to contain tensions and prevent further escalation, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that he had canceled a planned military strike on Iran, saying the decision came in response to requests from Tehran and several countries in the Middle East.
