Mechanisms to renovate the industrial sector discussed at a government meeting

Damascus, SANA – A government meeting was held at the Industrial Testing and Research Center on Saturday to discuss mechanisms to boost and renovate the industrial sector.

Plans to re-operate the factories and companies that have been out of service according to specific timetables were highlighted.

Chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the meeting came up with mechanisms to revive the national industry and make it the primary focus of the coming period.

The ultimate goal of this and other meetings held in the same context is to intensify efforts to come to upgrading the companies of the public and private sectors and activating partnership between the two sectors to effectively contribute to development in the country.

Creating new jobs, setting up a new network of small and medium industrial projects and providing the requirements needed for re-operating the suspended companies were underscored as some of the main points to be focused on.

In the course of the meeting in which a number of ministers participated, Premier Khamis agreed on establishing six solar panels and solar cells factories in the coastal and central regions and in Damascus.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Minister of Industry Ahmad al-Hamo said the meeting aims at making optimal use of the government’s support provided to the establishments and companies of the Ministry and bringing out the best of their potentials.

He referred in particular to the textile and food industries for which the raw materials are available as they could contribute to improving local resources and securing the market needs.
