Health Minister: Providing all requirements to ensure success of new anti-polio vaccination campaign

Daraa, SANA – Health Minister Nizar Yazigi stressed the ministry’s close cooperation with health directorates in all provinces to take all procedures required to make the national anti-polio vaccination campaign a success.

The campaign launched is meant to target 2.8 million children under age five around the country.

Touring a number of medical centers in Daraa City, the Minister reaffirmed that the vaccine is free of charges, safe, and available at all medical centers, mobile teams and temporary housing centers.

In the same context, Minister Yazigi visited the primary healthcare center in al-Kashef area in Daraa city, hailing the staff’s efforts to rehabilitate the center and put it back into service after it was destroyed by terrorists’ rocket shells.

The minister’s visit included Daraa National Hospital where he noted that engineering teams affiliated to the ministry will head to the hospital in order to evaluate the status of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and lithotripsy machines to be repaired, in addition to providing the hospital with an ambulance.

For his part, Daraa Governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hanous underlined the governorate’s efforts to ensure a successful vaccination campaign, calling upon all families to bring their children to the nearest medical center and get vaccine which prevent polio infection.

Ministry of Health on Sunday launched new national anti-polio vaccination campaign which lasts till next Thursday.
