Ghalawanji: Emergency recovery plans for all ministries approved for 2016

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji reviewed on Tuesday projects that were implemented by ministries within the emergency recovery plan for 2015 which had a total budget of SYP 19.840 billion.

During the first meeting for 2016 of the Reconstruction Committee which he chairs, Ghalawanji noted that SYP 13.790 billion of the plan’s budget were spent for the implementation of recovery projects for the ministries, and a part of the remaining amount is dedicated for ongoing projects, whereas the rest will be allocated to the 2016 plan which has been approved for all ministries by the Committee.

Ghalawanji lauded the efforts made by members of the Committee and its sub-committees in the provinces in carrying out the tasks assigned to them, expressing hope that the Committee will continue carrying out its duties which include compensating for damage to the private and public sectors, approving the annual recovery plan, and contributing to funding the construction of housing units for temporary residence as needed.

Ghalawanji reviewed what has been achieved in the makeshift housing centers project in Adra in Damascus Countryside and Hasiya in Homs, emphasizing the need to take the necessary measures in preparation for the return of displaced people from neighboring countries as a part of a carefully-structured plan until the displaced people’s homes are repaired after restoring security to the areas they exist in.
