Cabinet holds weekly session, sets end of DST at Friday

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed during its weekly session on Tuesday a number of economic and services issues, most notable among them being means to alleviate the effects of the siege imposed by terrorists on the people of Deir Ezzor.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi stressed the need for computerizing and reforming judicial work to facilitate procedures, prevent corruption, and reduce litigation time.

He also called for taking steps to market citrus crops locally and abroad and working to address the need of farmers and support them, in addition to soliciting ministers to present ideas and solutions for the optimal investment of human resources.

The Cabinet then took the necessary steps to pass a bill on settling stalled loans at public-sector banks.

Finally, the Cabinet set the morning of Friday October 30th the date for the end of using daylight saving time (DST) for this year, at which point clocks would be adjusted backward by 60 minutes.
