Al-Halqi meets President Rouhani, relays message from President al-Assad

Tehran, SANA – Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Tuesday met President of Iran Hassan Rouhani, relaying to him a message from President Bashar al-Assad on the development of bilateral relations and expanding them to cover new fields in a manner serving the interests of the two countries and their people.

The message also touched on the two countries’ joint will to confront the plots concocted by the U.S., Israel, the West, and their pawns in the region which provide material, moral, and military support to terrorist organizations.

During the meeting, President Rouhani expressed thanks for the message and the sentiments it contained for the Iranian leadership and people, asserting that Iran will continue to stand alongside the Syrian people in the face of terrorism and help bolster their steadfastness which is born of their solidarity with their army and leadership.

Rouhani stressed that the global conspiracies against Iran will not dissuade it from continuing its support for Syria’s government and people, noting that those who supported terrorist organizations have come to realize that such actions cannot undermine the legitimate leadership in Syria.

Talks during the meeting touched on the growing pace of national reconciliations among Syrians and supporting inter-Syrian dialogue without foreign interference.

Premier al-Halqi thanked President Rouhani for his honorable positions towards the Syrian people, leadership, and army, and for his faith in the imminent victory over the conspiracy targeting Syria.

He also asserted Syria’s commitment to national reconciliation and improving the economic conditions of Syrians in parallel with combating terrorism.

Al-Halqi briefed Rouhani on the results of the meetings he held with Iranian officials, saying they produced positive results that will boost economic, commercial, technical, industrial, and agricultural relations and help provide what is needed to maintain the Syrian people’s steadfastness.

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying al-Halqi and the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, in addition to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Roads & Urban Development Minister, and the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus.

Al- Halqi also met with Eshaq Jahangiri, First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and stressed the need to further bolster the bilateral relations as to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

In a press conference, al-Halqi said the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in all fields, expressing gratitude to the Iranian government for its support to Syria in its war against the international terrorism whose terrorists are coming from over 83 countries.

He called upon the Iranian businessmen and corporations to contribute to the reconstruction process in Syria.

In turn, Jahangiri said that Syria is currently witnessing harsh situation and it’s the duty of Iran to support it as Damascus had done to Tehran in times of need, adding that cooperation will be enhanced further and hoping that Syria will soon overcome the crisis.

Al-Halqi meets Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran

In the same context, Premier al-Halqi and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani discussed prospects of Syrian-Iranian cooperation in all fields, particularly in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and investment fields.

During the meeting, al-Halqi said that Syria is moving confidently towards restoring security and stability across the entire country and beginning the reconstruction and recovery stage.

The Premier said that the strategic alliance between Syria and Iran bolsters the two countries’ national security, as they stand together in defense for the region’s causes and interests against western and Israeli plots.

For his part, Shamkhani lauded the victories achieved by Syrians against terrorism, asserting that the Syrians’ steadfastness and strengthening the resistance axis constitutes a defeat for the enemies of Syria and Iran.

He also underlined the importance of the efforts exerted by the Syrian government to bolster the Syrians’ steadfastness in the face of the unjust economic embargo imposed on them, asserted that the terrorism targeting Syria is a barbaric terrorism that has no religion or home country, adding that Iran will not permit this terrorism to spread.

“Iran and Syria, thanks to their strategic cooperation, will together excise the germ of terrorism and celebrate victory over it,” he said.

Al-Halqi to Iranian Foreign Minister: Syria welcomes all initiatives that seek political solution

In a similar meeting, Premier al-Halqi discussed with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif the political and diplomatic coordination between the two countries on regional and international levels as well as the initiative of UN Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura.

Al-Halqi stressed that the Syrian government is combating terrorism across the country, and that it will eradicate terrorist organizations and restore security and stability in Syria while at the same time pursuing national reconciliations, as these reconciliations are growing thanks to the Syrians’ determination.

The Premier asserted that the solution for the crisis can only be a Syrian solution without foreign interference, and that Syria welcomes all initiatives that seek to achieve a political solution.

He also lauded Iran’s successes in the fields of international diplomacy, which led to Iran becoming an active pole on the international arena, affirming that Syrian-Iranian coordination and cooperation will strengthen the resistance axis in the region and curb certain western countries’ attempts at assuming control of the international arena and dominating it.

For his part, Zarif said that Iran always has and always will be on the side of the Syrian people and leadership in their battle against terrorism, noting that the tripartite meeting between the foreign ministers of Syria, Iran, and Iraq which took place in Tehran on December 9th comes within this framework and seeks to strengthen the resistance axis in the face of terrorism and plots being concocted for the region.

He also lauded the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Armies as well as Syria’s political victories which prove to the world that it seeks a political solution for the crisis.
