Prime Minister allocates SYP 10 billion for development projects in provinces

Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis approved the allocation of SYP 10 billion to city councils and administrative units in provinces for establishing small and medium-sized development projects.

This came during a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and attended by governors.

Khamis also approved the formation of a work group to follow up on the implementation of those projects in a manner that takes into account the priorities and unique characteristics of each province, and that leads to developing local resources and creating job opportunities.

The governors were tasked to coordinate with unions and federations to relaunch small and medium-sized production facilities that had been damaged by terrorism, and a committee was formed to study the situation of stalled private sector projects and means to relaunch them.

Khamis tasked the governors with establishing databases of the properties owned by administrative units that are being invested by the private sector in order to reevaluate them and allocate their returns to benefit local development, and instructed them to expand the investments of those units.
