Kazakhstan: Preparations underway for new round of Astana talks on Syria

Nur-Sultan, SANA_ Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi said that preparations are underway for holding a new round of Astana talks on the crisis in Syria scheduled this month in the Kazakh capital, Nur Sultan.

In a press statement on Tuesday, Tleuberdi added that we are ready to hold this meeting and we are awaiting for an official confirmation of its date, stressing that  the “Astana formula” to resolve the crisis in Syria maintains its importance.

The guarantors of the Astana process – Russia, Iran and Turkey – announced in the final statement  of the 13th round of Astana talks held last August 1-2 in Nur Sultan that the next round of talks will be in October.

Astana meetings started in early 2017.Thirteen meetings were held in Astana format, one of them in the Russian city of Sochi.
