Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Wednesday addressed a letter to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet regarding US President Donald Trump’s declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan.

The Ministry affirmed that the US President’s declaration to recognize the annexation of the occupied Syrian Golan to the Israeli occupation entity is a flagrant aggression on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, and flagrant violation of the UN charter and the international law regarding Golan.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights should declare a clear overt stance , which warns against the dangers of the rejected US declaration on the international legal system, which guarantees the rights of citizens of the occupied Syrian Golan, holding the occupying authority responsible for the legal status of the Golan as an occupied Syrian territory, the Ministry said.
