Ala: Dialogue is the best way to protect human rights away from politicization and double standards

Geneva, SANA- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Hussam Eddin Ala said that the international cooperation aimed at supporting national efforts and constructive dialogue is the best way to enhance and protect the human rights away from politicization , double standards , and the insistence of some countries to use the human rights as a pretext for promoting their geopolitical agendas in a way that would undermine the credibility of the role of the Human Rights Council.

“Syria expresses relief over attention given by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights since assuming her post of positive dialogue and cooperation based on the national priorities of the countries away from the sterile policies that have transformed the Council’s deliberations into confrontation spaces and keep them away from the interactive dialogue,” Ala said in a speech he delivered Thursday during the discussion of the second item with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 40th Regular Session Human Rights Council

“Syria hails the emphasis placed by the High Commissioner in her statement on the economic and social rights , including the right of development in the context of addressing the challenges facing the world today,” Ala said.

He expressed hope that violations of the unilateral coercive economic measures of human rights in the targeted countries would receive more attention by the UN High Commissioner, in addition to shouldering violators political , moral and criminal responsibilities for the destructive impacts on the countries and persons.

Ala stressed that a realistic approach to the situation in Syria can’t be achieved without the recognition of terrorism crimes supported by the outside , effects of the unilateral coercive economic measures and accounting the countries and the international alliances, which are existing illegally in the Syrian territories, for their breaches and crimes.

” Syria is looking forwards to paying more attention by the UN High Commissioner over the violations of the basic rights , arbitrary ,and discriminatory practices that affect the people of occupied Syrian Golan due to the settlement policies and attempts to entrench the Israeli occupation of the Golan,” Ala said.
