Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad stressed the S-300 missile system which Russia intends to deliver to Syria within two weeks is “defensive” and that Syria will defend itself as it has always done.
Answering questions of journalists during a reception ceremony held by the Chinese Embassy in Damascus marking the 69th anniversary of establishing People’s Republic of China, Mikdad said that the tragic incident which led to downing IL-20 aircraft proved the Israeli aggressiveness and the support provided by the US and the Western states to these destructive policies against Syria.
Mikdad noted that “Israel” which is accustomed to launch many aggressions under different pretexts will make accurate calculations if it thinks to attack Syria again.
He considered that the aggression against Syria is an aggression against all the powers which work on combating terrorism in it and on restoring security and stability to it.
Mikdad affirmed that Syria will defend itself as it has always done and it welcomes this defensive support which should have been delivered to it from a very long time.
