Shaaban: The problem lies in the fierce media campaign against Syria

Damascus, SANA- Presidential Political and Media Adviser Bouthaina Shaaban received on Thursday a western media delegation comprising intellectuals, researchers and activists from the United States, Britain, Norway, Germany and Australia.

During the meeting, Shaaban thanked members of the delegation for their presence in Syria to see the reality on the ground, indicating that “the main problem lies in the misleading media and the fierce media campaign against Syria, saying that there is a wall which separates the Western citizen from the reality of events taking place in Syria.

Shaaban affirmed that events in Iraq and Libya are clear examples of what is being prepared to Arab countries, adding that it became crystal clear that no one can dictate or put preconditions on Syria and that Syria will achieve victory in the end.

For their part, members of the delegation stressed the importance of correcting the media language conveyed to the citizens of Western countries so that they can correct the wrong image in their minds and the need to use the exact term “terrorist is a terrorist and not a rebel.”

They affirmed that their mission is to convey the real image of events to the West faithfully and try to attract activists and other media figures to defend Syria in Western forums.

In a press statement following the meeting, Shaaban pointed out that the reconciliations taking place in many Syrian areas are under the initiative of the Syrian government which exerts great efforts in this regard despite the pain and crimes committed by terrorists against the Syrians.

“However, we believe that reconciliation is a key factor for the restoration of security and peace in Syria and that it is reconciliation between the Syrians themselves without any external interference, and therefore we are in this direction,” Shaaban said.
