Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Higher Education Ghiath Barakat and Director General of Development and Cooperation Directorate at the Italian Foreign Ministry, Elisabetta Belloni on Monday discussed the completion of the final phase of Bone Marrow Transplant and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Centers.
The two sides discussed the possibility of developing Syrian-Italian cooperation to include the training of medical, educational and academic cadres in the higher education system and official institutions.
Minister Barakat expressed the ministry's desire to broaden cooperation with Italy, pointing out that the ministry will send postgraduates to study hospital management in Italy.
Belloni underscored the importance of exchanging medical and surgical expertise with Syria. She said that Italy is ready to provide Syrian students with scholarships and specialized training programs in medicine, civil engineering, energy and environment.
She added that the Italian side will provide the necessary support to complete the project of Bone Marrow Transplant and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Centers in Syria.
