Damascus, (SANA) – The 8th Syrian International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Conference kicked off on Monday at al-Assad University Hospital, with the participation of 40 doctors and surgeons from 15 Arab and foreign countries.
Minister of Health Dr. Rida Saiid underlined the developments in oral and maxillofacial surgery in recent years, underlining the need to reconsider regulations to accommodate the development of subspecialties.
He also affirmed the importance of international conferences in scientific development and post-university education.
An expo for medical equipment and pharmaceuticals was also held on the sideline of the Conference, with the participation of companies specializing in surgical equipment, dental restorative materials, x-ray equipment, and more.
The first session of the Conference focused on paranasal sinuses surgery, orthopedic surgery, and surgical correction of disfigured facial and jaw disfigurement.
The three-day conference will discuss the latest in dental implants, major surgery of the lip and palate, benign and malign tumors, jawbone elongation procedures and bone grafting.
