BASMA Foundation Forms Partnership with Syrian Actors to Support Children with Cancer

Damascus, (SANA) – BASMA Foundation for supporting children with cancer launched on Tuesday a partnership with a number of Syrian actors, making them honorary members and supporters of the cause of childhood cancer.

In a press conference, BASMA Chairperson Maya Asaad stressed the importance of the artists' participation in alleviating the suffering of children who suffer from cancer and providing support to them.

For their part, the actors expressed their belief in the positive role that artists should play in service of social issues, saying that their participation will include personal initiatives, television series and programs, the revenues of which will be dedicated to help cure children with cancer and provide their needs, in addition to the actors' participation in media campaigns to spread cancer awareness.

The actors participating in the conference are Mona Wassef, Jamal Suleiman, Nidal Seijari, , Nisreen Tafesh and Qussai Khouli, in addition to director al-Laith Hajo.

BASMA foundation was launched in 2006. It is a civil volunteer organization that supports children with cancer and their families in Syria, with 85 volunteers currently working with it.

After four years of work, BASMA managed to provide material support to more than 1700 children with cancer and their families, in addition to providing moral and psychological support during treatment and spreading social awareness about cancer.
