Tartous, Syrian Coast, (SANA) - The excavations conducted by Tartous Antiquities Department have unearthed a large group of cut stones in additions to the stones of two huge and small presses at the village of Beit Deek in the coastal Province of Tartous during the first half of 2010.
Director of Tartous Antiquities Department Marwan Hassan said that five surveys were conducted at the site as the remains of walls and parts of stone and earthen floors were uncovered.
The Department also unearthed a small clay pottery, a well for collecting liquids, two pestles, and the relics of several tombs in addition to a stone-made ladder around the gate of the eastern grave, a cannel carved in rocks, a basalt basin and a cylindrical pillar made of limestone.
Hassan indicated that the excavations at the site of Amrit for this year have unearthed stones at 240 centimeters under the ground in addition to discovering a wall which constitutes a part of two intersecting walls in addition to some clay pieces.
He added that the other three surveys which were conducted near the Mumluk Tank unearthed a number of separated skeletons, a bronze ring and pieces of glass and potter.
