SWEIDA, Sothern Syria (SANA)_ A bronze statue representing harborcoat god of child was unearthed in Sweida Governorate, 106 kilometers south of Damascus, Engineer Wassim Shaa'rani, Director of Sweida's Archeology Department stated.
Shaa'rani said that the excavations made by the joint Syrian-French expedition at the archeological Sii Temple, built between 32 BC and 1 BC for god Baal Shamin, in Al-Qanawat village have unearthed several of stone findings and ancient metallic coins.
Shaa'rani added that the original flagstones of the temple northern part courtyard were also found during the excavations.
The temple northern part courtyard, according to Shaa'rani, contains remains of statues, Nabataean and Semitic writings, some archeological elements like decorated columns, chapiters, sculptures, drawings dating back to the late Hellenistic Era.
