House from Neolithic era unearthed South Raqqa

Raqa, eastern Syria, (SANA)- The Syrian-Japanese archeological expedition working in Al-Bishri Mountain in Raqqa governorate, unearthed a house dating back to the New Stone Age (Neolithic Era) in Rohoum site, 70 km south of the city of Raqa.

Head of Archeology and Museums Directorate in Raqqa Mohammad Sarhan al-Ahmad said the 2x1.8 meters discovered circular house dates back to 6500 BC with a fireplace in the middle. It was discovered by Professor Fiji.

The Syrian-Japanese Expedition made overall survey of al-Bishri Mountain and excavated several archeological sites near the village of Ghanem al-Ali, 50 km east of Raqqa.
