Jul 02, 2010

Daraa, Southern Syria, (SANA)- The natural hot mineral spring resort of Nabe al-Hayat (Fountain of Life), located in Jbab Village in Daraa, southern Syria, has been acquiring an increasing fame for the various therapeutic services it offers.

Tourists and patients come from inside and outside Syria seeking natural treatments among other services available at the resort.

People enjoy the naturally-heated pools at Nabe al-Hayat spring, which contain a rich set of minerals including manganese, magnesium, phosphor, calcium, zinc and copper that are very useful in treating high blood pressure, osteoporosis and deficiency of vitamin D.

Director of Tourism Department in Daraa Mohammad Salim Qteifan said this mineral-rich hot spring can cure different cases of dermatosis, and that its therapeutic waters are very effective in improving blood circulation and soothing bone, joints, muscle and back pain.

The structure of Nabe al-Hayat Resort, 45 km from Damascus, is divided into two parts; one for men and the other for women. There are also a five-room part for families and a treatment center, in addition to a hotel, Qteifan added.

Basalt stones available in the region were used in building the resort's parts, which were scientifically constructed in a way to hold back sun rays.

Qteifan referred to a project for investing in a mineral well that was discovered in 1980 in al-Yadouda village, northwestern Daraa.

Qteifan said that the Tourism Ministry has offered the well for investment for establishing a tourist and therapeutic resort with a total cost of SYP 194 million (1 USD is equivalent to about 47 SP) over a forty year period.

The well water contains a 0.4 g of minerals per liter with a low rate of alkalinity and hydrogen sulfide. Its temperature was found to be 45 degrees Celsius.
