Damascus, (SANA)-Hundreds in Syria gathered to view the eclipse on Friday with 22 % of the sun was obscured. The solar eclipse was visible as a partial eclipse where the first contact occurred at 7: 11 am, reaching its peak at 8: 08 and ended at 9: 40 am. Head of the Syrian Amateur Astronomers Association (SAAA) Mohammad al-Asiri said in a statement to SANA the moon passed through Earth's shadow as it was expected. He added that at the end of the eclipse there was a solar spot on the northeastern side of the sun, and no solar eruptions were seen. The sun was normal. He said that SAAA sent a delegate to Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean, where an annular eclipse will be visible and is expected to last for 11: 08 m, the longest in 1,000 years.
