Damascus Countryside, (SANA)- He was only 18 when he designed and made a steam water pump and developed the skill to install and dismantle any pump in less than 45 minutes.
Blindness has never been a problem for the 70-year-old Hishem al-Naasan (Abu Subhi) , a Syrian citizen who lost his sight when he was nine.
Hisham comes from Douma in the countryside of Damascus. He showed a special fondness for mechanics since his childhood. He made a water wheel operated by draught animals when he was seven.
Hisham said that he depends in fixing the pump on the nature of the ground and atmospheric pressure, and he puts a special gauge for each pump based on these facts.
In addition to water pumps, Hisham is also capable of fixing all diesel engines, and he has had a workshop of his own for 32 years now.
