Damascus, (SANA)- Translation is one of the most important channels for dialogue among civilizations, a means for transporting the intellectual heritage and scientific and technical rapprochement among the nations and a main factor for the growth of the human knowledge throughout history.
The Higher Institute of Translation and simultaneous translation is a pioneering project in the entire region, was opened in Syria in 2005 on a prsidential Decree .
The Institute aims at meeting the requirement of the local and Arab work market of skillful translators and graduated qualified cadres based on international curriculum and technologies in a way that match up with the rank of the Arabic language in Syria.
In a statement to SANA Saturday, Dean of the Institution Dr. Rima al-Hakim said that the establishment of the institute was a national scientific necessity which enrolls within the methodology of putting the university in the service of society and the development process.
Dr. al-Hakim pointed out that the institute aims at adopting the modern teaching methods which contribute in developing and rehabilitating specialized translators from and to the Arabic language .
She added that the Institute granted three master's degrees in the French and English languages.
The institute consists of three main sections, the Written Translation, The simultaneous translation and the Audiovisual Translation Departments, and each one consists of two sections for the French and English languages.
