Damascus, (SANA) – Seven young Syrian writers won various awards in the 13th session of Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity.
In the novel category, writer Lubna Hani al-Jardi won first prize for her novel "Ferfana Alhasir", while Zaki Salim Mardenli won first prize in the children's literature category for his collection "Farah and the Ifrit."
In the theater category, Malek Hussein Karkout won second place for his play "Nothing but an Illusion" and Ghassan Rashad al-Ahmad won third prize for his play "The Graveyard."
In the poetry category, Mohammad Ali al-Khaddour won second prize for his collection "Playing with Borrowed Fingers."
In the short story category, Rudy Hassan Abdullah won second prize for his collection "The Immigrant," while the third prize was jointly won by Bassim Jameel al-Rais for his collection "Tomorrow I Will Sew My Mouth" and Iraqi writer Muntather Nasser Kadhim.
The awards will be distributed in April at the Arab Creativity Workshop in Sharjah. The first prize is USD 6,000, the second prize is USD 4,000, and the third prize is USD 3,000.
