Doha, (SANA) – Poetry lovers spent extraordinary moments yesterday evening, enjoying eloquent and vernacular (classical and popular) poetry recited by the Syrian poets Hassan Baiti and Omar al-Farra at Qtar National Theatre in Doha.
Prince of Poets for 2009 Hassan al-Baiti initiated the evening of poetry with a poem dedicated to the Qatari Capital of Doha entitled " From Damascus Hills" (Men Ruba al-Cham) depicting the close and brotherly relations between Syria and Qatar as part of the Syrian cultural week held on the occasion of Doha, Capital of Arab Culture.
The poet used a simple transparent language which is full of genuine emotional feelings.
Well-known folkloric poet Omar al-Farra used, as usual, his distinguished style in the verse. In his poems, al-Farra talked about love, patriotism and resistance mused by Arab society in addition to Arab and Syrian figures who left impressive impact on his world and soul.
The Evening of Poetry was followed by folkloric performance where Syrian Shuyoukh Salateen al-Tarab Band "Kings of Original Songs" amused the audience with glorious folk masterpieces by the great musicians Ssayed Darwish and Ali Darwish in addition to dozens of religious canticles, stanzas and Sufi whirling.
